I woke up this morning to the unbelievable breaking news on the front page of Sydney Morning Herald. I know its hard to believe, but Jarryd Hayne made the NFL. FML an aussie guy made the 53 men squad 49ers... Un-be-li-ev-ab-le, unbelievable. In fact, its so unbelievable that its made the headlines of a few national newspapers. Not just the top story, but top 3 stories. WOW
Thats not even local news, its national. The last time I remember that happened was when Ian Thorpe came out. While Im not questioning the drive, motivation and hard work of Jarryd, its damn amazing that this is the most important story out there today, father's day 06.09.2015
To give you an example, here is the front page of the Russian national paper today.
Suspect in assassination attempt captured, 2 men stabbed other 2, ISIS killed a journalist and her father, racecar slammed into the crowd of spectators in Spain, killing 6 and injuring 16 and thats just the start.
Obviously, none of these news are anywhere as important as Jarryd making a 53 men squad and his 600K contract.
Its really great that we live in the country where some guys professional football career is greater news than say ISIS or 16ppl dead elsewhere in the world. Love it.
